Canon, Sony and Fujifilm Mirrorless Digital Cameras – 01-27-25
I have used three types of digital mirrorless cameras. The Sony a7R series of cameras, the Fujifilm GFX 50S medium format camera, and most recently the Canon EOS R7. All these camera bodies are slim and light weight. Most of the weight comes from the lenses for each of these cameras. Both the Sony and Canon cameras are great for hiking since they are lighter and smaller cameras than most DSLR cameras. Even the Fujifilm camera is good for hiking since it weighs about what a Canon 5D Mark III DSLR camera weighs, but the Fujifilm camera has 50 MP or about twice the megapixels of the Canon 5D Mark III camera.
The electronic viewfinders on the Canon, Sony and Fujifilm cameras are so good that I rarely use the LCD monitors.
I highly recommend all these cameras. Although recently I have gone to using the Canon EOS R7 camera almost exclusively, since both the camera and the lens I use with it have image stabilization which allows me to photograph in almost every situation without a tripod. It is also the lightest weight of all these cameras, since it uses an APS-C sensor. I will never go back to using a DSLR camera.
